Get to know the story of Gemma + Alex, a lovely couple we had the pleasure of performing for on their special day filled with loved ones and laughter.

Tell us the story of how you two met.
We met at work, Alex joined the company in January 2014 and we became friends straight away. We had our first date on March 1st and by May we were living together. We haven’t spent a day apart since.

What made you decide that this was the right person to be with for the rest of your life?
Gemma: I can be myself with Alex, he always knows exactly what to say to pick me up, encourage me or make me see things in a new light. He is my best friend and I’m a better person because of him.
Alex: In short, Gem gets me. We’re into the same things – food choices, movies, things to do. She knows what to say and when to say it. She lifts me up when I’m down and puts my feet back on the ground when I get over excited. She’s the one I want to come home to and tell about my day, I couldn’t imagine it being anyone else.

What do you enjoy most about each other’s company?
We laugh a lot, we travel a lot, and we love being lazy together!

How was your experience with Blue Lion Band?
We had a great experience, they were amazing. We met Dessie at the Wedding Show, he pretty much sold us on the band there and then. We went to see them live in Shoreditch and chose the band members to suit our taste. On the day, it all ran smoothly and we had so many positive comments about the band. Even the staff at the venue were impressed and they see a lot of bands!

What was your favorite song you danced to at your wedding?
Towards the end of the evening, the lead singer came down from the stage and danced with us while singing Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.” She was an absolute star with great energy and a fantastic voice.

Share one special memory from your wedding with us.
When Gem walked down the aisle, it was really emotional for both of us and so special to be able to get married in the Royal Chapel. Also, the drive from the Chapel to the reception venue through Windsor Great Park in a lovely 1929 Rolls Royce 20/25 – it was all about the car for Alex!

Do you have any advice for couples as they plan for their wedding?
Try not to stress too much, just enjoy the planning and seeing your day come together. It’s all over far too quickly!
